Over years of human civilization scholars, priests, shamans, philosophers and many other people have sat in deep reflection, wondering perhaps about the forces at play in our lives. The human race has developed both a diverse and detailed series of beliefs, many of which acknowledge the existence of an entity that exists before birth and after death.
Those who acknowledge its presence generally believe that the soul is some kind of life force that guides people during life. A common analogy is that the soul is like an astronaut inside a spacesuit. The spacesuit is like our physical body. Without the life force within the body, the person dies. Unlike the mind, the heart and the body, the soul continues to exist after the body is irreparibly damaged. It is not bound to anything physical in nature. Many believe it separates from the body after death to rejoin other souls not occupying a body. Some faiths believe that reincarnation is possible, given the above scenario, while others aren't so sure or disagree completely. Since there is no known scientific way we can prove or disprove it's existence, the soul continues to elude many in our materialistic 9-5 world. It is only after major events in our life that many stop to consider
more deeply their role and place in the world today. Are they following
the path of their soul's desire ? Or are they ignoring it and following
their thoughts rather than intuition ? The search for spirituality often
leads to more questions than answers; many believe it is the nourishment
of the soul that helps us to grow as people, well into old age.
